Sweet Tree is the world’s first certified organic coconut palm sugar. The sweet nectar from the flower blossom of the green coconut palm tree, Coco Nucifera, is collected, boiled and granulated creating CocoCrystals. A bit of Balinese sea salt is added, imparting a luscious balance of salty sweetness. Sweet Tree is ‘nature’s perfect sweetener’ – a pure and unrefined evaporated nectar that is a 1:1 replacement for cane sugar. It’s naturally high in nutrients and low on the glycemic index. Big Tree Farms is a socially equitable manager of sustainable supply chains, working directly with over 7,000 farmers and having developed key partnerships with both local nonprofits and International Development programs.
- Naturally low on the glycemic index
- Healthy alternative to high fructose sweeteners and processed cane sugars

This palm sugar has salt in it!
I have bought palm sugar before and love it in my coffee, tea and on fruit. I was shocked to taste this product and find it contains salt! I see that the packaging says “fleur de sel” but do not speak French, so that didn’t mean a thing to me. I realize that if I had carefully read the entire ad and not only the “Product Features”, I would have seen that the “Important Information” and “Product Description” list salt as an ingredient.
This is a great product; just be aware that “fleur de sel” means salt!

I did not know that this product contains a considerable amount of salt – it should have definitely been indicated in the amazon ingredient list. Otherwise an ok product. Will not buy again.
Big Tree Farms Sweet Tree Coconut Palm Sugar Fleur de Sel
If you like a sweet and salty flavor this sugar is excellent. I prefer a total sugar taste so my next order will be straight coconut sugar without the pinch of bali sea salt.

Low Glycemic Hit and High Taste
This product is a great find for those who have to watch their glycemic intake. I have made cookies using this and the Rapunzel sugar (also low) and the taste is heavenly. In fact, I made some black bean chocolate cookies that are a big rave and have only 1 Weight Watcher point each. Just search for Black Bean chocolate cookies and substitute the two sugars mentioned above for the bad kind. We are also gluten free here, so I used coconut flour and cocoa powder for part of the flours – very high protein and fiber. Good luck everyone and enjoy!
At first I wasn’t sure I’d like the touch of salt in my sweetener, but the balance of sweetness with a hint of salt has turned out to be my #1 sweetener! I’ve heard raves about salted caramel lattes and this sweetener could offer that special coffeehouse experience at home.
