Despite having just as much sugar as the troika of Kellogg’s cereal that Moms hate but kids love (Corn Pops, Apple Jacks and Froot Loops), this escapes the bad press, probably because it doesn’t contain the words Loops, Pops or Jacks which Moms seem to identify with artificial flavors (another Mom banned substance).

So this is one of my favorite cereals that my Mom did not ban. (Kelloggs should learn from this and relabel the banned troika as Mennonite Corn Cereal, Delicious Apple Cereal and Old Fashioned Fruit Cereal.) But the sugar isn’t that bad, this 2.1oz cup contains 23g of sugar vs. 39g in a 12oz can of Coke, plus it contains a decent amount of vitamins and supplements. And anyway, no one can eat plain cereal without the sugar, even with the basic Kellogg’s cereal, I have to add some sugar to it to make it palatable.

I love this individual pack. It’s very handy. You can carry it anywhere with you and all you need is a small carton of milk to make it a meal or a snack. And this individual pack prevents you from overeating it (unless you decide to eat 2-3 of them at once.) To get rid of the excess sugar, just peel back the lid a little and shake out the excess sugar of which there always is some.

And who doesn’t remember Tony the Tiger saying “They’re Greeaaat!” Now that’s some inspired advertising.

Pros: Tastes great. Handy size. Convenient on the go. Name does not contain the words Pops, Jacks, or Loops, which Moms don’t identify with real food.
Cons: None.

Healthy Kellogs always always do it best. I’m enjoying it. You should always try to eat Frosted Flakes at least four times a week.
