An Extremely Exotic Drink
While reading a copy of Saveur from January 2007 a few weeks ago, I found out about Sharbat Rooh Afza. This crimson syrup can be mixed into water, club soda or milk. I find I prefer this syrup mixed with milk as it brings out the floral flavors very effectively. While the magazine said this is infused with the essence of rose, coriander seed, watermelon and other herbs and fruits I found this version mostly contains sugar, fragrant screwpine, rose essence and xanthan gum. This drink is best when you mix nine ounces of water/milk/club soda with two tablespoons syrup. But you can adjust it to taste. Some people add it to lemonade or pour it over ice cream. In milk it reminds me of strawberry milk with a hint of rose.
