Yuck! Full of salt and MSG, very little chipotle flavor

I like Knorr products and have used them for many years. I just wish they would reformulate them to cut out the MSG and reduce the salt. These little cubes, which are a great idea, have 800 mg of salt in each one. That’s basically the entire cube! They don’t even have a good chipotle flavor – I thought they had a fake smoke flavor.

Instead of these little cubes, I suggest McCormick’s range of MSG and salt free seasonings (found here on Amazon, some with free super-saver shipping). They come in large containers at a great price, and are a better choice for healthy cooking.

Distinct spicy flavor — ease of use

Wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but this is tasty. Has a decent chipotle spicy flavor for a boullion cube. I’ve been adding it mainly to rice dishes. I often use part of a cube as they easily crumble and can add extra flavor just for me. My husband doesn’t like overly intense flavors, so I can make a skillet of food and add chipotle only to my plate OR make mine a stronger chipotle than his. Reminds me of the flavor coating on a good chipotle or mesquite potato chip!

Best if used by 10.25.08

The taste is pretty good, although ingredients listed are not exactly healthy: Salt, MSG, Sugar, Hydrogenated Palm Oil, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Chili Powder, Silicon Dioxide, Hydrolyzed Corn Protein, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Caramel Color, Citric Acid, Disodium Inosinate, Spice, Yellow 6 Lake, Disodium Guanylate, Sulfur Dioxide.

The lable states “Best if used by 10.25.08”.

BETTER VALUE WHEN GRANULATED

HAVE PURCHASED THREE SO FAR. UNWRAPPED EACH CUBE PLACED ABOUT 15-20 IN FOOD PROCESSOR, GRANULATED ENTIRE CASE, YIELDED ALMOST 60oz, PROBABLY MORE THAN THAT AS SEASONING IS HEAVIER GRANULATED THAN MOST, GREAT VALUE IF YOU DON’T MIND A LITTLE TIME CONSUMING WORK AND HAVE THE EMPTY CONTAINERS. OUTSTANDING FLAVOR AND SPICINESS, HAVE ONLY USED IT SO FAR IN BAKING CHICKEN, CAN’T WAIT TO USE IT IN FRYING CHICKEN WINGS. WILL SET UP RECURRING ORDER AND DELIVERY SOON. OTHER REVIEWERS HAVE USED INDIVIDUAL CUBES FOR SAUSES,SALADS,MEAT ETC. EITHER WAY, YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED.

ummm good

This is a very good spice. I found it at our local grocery store and liked it right away. My husband likes it VERY much. He tries it on everything. We use it for fajitas, fried potatos, hot sauce, spicy fried chicken, Fried mushrooms, shrimp, taco meat, beans, potato cheese soup…. We have tried it on alot of things. My favorite is on chicken though, If you put it on chicken and then grill it It is awsome. Great for chicken fajitas or just with rice. I was really glad to find it here on amazon they quit carrying it at our grocery store. They flavor is spicy with a hint of sweetness. If you use too much it can be very hot. Great for adding a spicy taste to almost anything.

Crazy for chipotle

Useful if you crumble this up and put it on any type of meat even seafood. I also sprinkle it on baked potatoes, chili, etc. It’s spicy without ruining the flavors, does add a slight smokey flavor – tastes really good on all meats in my experience. A lot easier than dealing with whole chipotle pepper since it’s easier to gauge how hot you’re making it.

More a recipe than a review

These are great.

I crush two of them in enough olive oil to coat pasta and then fry two or three eggs in the oil.
Pour everything over the pasta, mix well and serve.
Fast and delicious.

Wild Rice benefits from Chipotle

We had game birds for Thanksgiving. I had some Knorr chipotle cubes (samples from a Southwest Food Show) so tried 2 cubes when cooking mixed white and wild rice. Knorr Mini Cubes, Chipotle, 20-Count Box Nice spicy chipotle flavor. Glad to have a supplier online for friends and myself.

Delicious!

These cubes are absolutely delicious with any dish. I have used them as a soup base, on fish, crumbled them in breadings, ribs and even roasts. I have even used them in plain rice. Depending on the level of spice, one to two cubes… it is a must try! Add a little zip to your food.

Buyer Beware expiration date ????

I was very disappointed when this product arrived because the expiration date is in 5 months. I would not have purshased this product had I known. I must have helped them get rid of an old product that was not selling. I would have returned it but they do not accept returns on food products. Buyer Beware!
