Not a Starbucks Chai alternative….
This is a cane sugar flavored syrup which has a decent Chai flavor though quite different from the Tazo Starbucks variety. As a syrup it is inherently sweet and, of course, dilution makes it less sweet but also reduces the nice spiciness of Chai. I’ve found that to find the right balance of sweet and spice, I can add some loose Chai, Cardamom, and/or black pepper to bring the balance to what I want. This is also made from a green tea base (milder) vs. a black tea base which affects the flavor quite a bit. Still, it is a good overall value and a decent alternative to paying a ton for the Starbucks Tazo version.
