beware of carrageenan in this product

I’m wondering about the carrageenan in this product. Scientific research indicates carrageenan may be risky. For example drweil.com states: “Carrageenan is a common food additive that comes from red seaweed also known as Irish Moss or Chondrus Crispus. Carrageen has long been used as a thickener and emulsifier in ice cream, yogurt, cottage cheese and other processed food products, including soy milk.”

Dr Weil cites research indicating that “a study published in October 2001 suggest that carrageenan may not be as safe as once thought. Findings from animal studies and a review of the scientific literature showed that degraded forms of carrageenan can cause ulcerations and cancers of the gastrointestinal tract…Dr. Tobacman thinks that undegraded carrageenan – the kind most widely used as a food additive – might also be associated with malignancies and other stomach problems. She suggests that such factors as bacterial action, stomach acid and food preparation may transform undegraded carrageenan into the more dangerous degraded type.

Not Organic

I bought this when Rice Dream prices went ‘through the roof’. It is decent rice milk, but for some reason I thought it was organic. It is NOT. While the price is good compared to rice dream, I ended bu subscription before I got a second shipment, and will not buy this again.

Makes everything taste creamy and Yummy

ALL I CAN SAY IS , THIS IS THE BEST RICE MILK EVER MADE. I USE IT IN MASH POTATOES, CERAL, PUDDING, CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP, POTATEO SOUP,. MAKES OUTSTAND SMOOTHIES, . THE RICE MILK TASTE SO RICH AND CREAMING, I USE IT TO MAKE NON-DAIRY ICING,

THE ONLY SAD THING IS THAT WE TRAVEL ALOT AND I WISH THEY HAD THE RICE MILK IN POWDER FORM! IF THEY DO PLEASE LET US KNOW WE WOULD BUY IT. WE TRAVEL AND WE ALWAY LOOK FOR Pacific Natural Foods Rice Non-Dairy Beverage, Vanilla, 32-Ounce Containers (Pack of 12)

WE ARE VERY PICKY ABOUT THE TASTE OF FOOD AND THIS ONE TASTE BETTER THAN ANYTHING ON THE MARKET.

One of the Best Rice Milks Around

I have always bought this rice milk at Whole Foods, but recently they have taken them of the shelves and put the Rice Dream as their main rice milk. Personally I don’t understand why, this milk have less sodium and sugar then rice dream and taste better too. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a milk alternative to taste great and is healthier.

GREAT VARIETY OF NON-DAIRY MILKS

The rice milk is on par with the other brands (Eden, Imagine). Where they shine is on some of their other unique offerings:

1) Hazlenut Milk–has to be taste to be believed! Roasted hazelnut flavor–use in smoothies, pour into hot cereal

2) Oat Milk (vanilla flavor)–a great acccompaniement to…you guess it! Oatmeal!

3)Almond (vanilla flavor)–another winner

great prouct

Bought this for my son who is lactose intolerant and he just loves it. The taste is great and the price is right on! Usually right on with the cost at the store without the drive to get it!

Great product.

I feel the flavor of the rice milk to be excellent. It did not need the vanilla flavor. I am grateful to have found this product on amazon and that I can save by purchasing regularly- in up to 6 month periods.

Best Rice Beverage on the Market

I am so happy that this product is available via Amazon subscription because our local supermarket raised the price per carton by 70 cents! I am dairy intolerant, so I use it wherever one would use milk … as a creamer for coffee & tea, cereals, baking, etc. One reviewer didn’t think it made a good coffee creamer, but if I find it works quite well. You may need to make your coffee a bit stronger, but just heat the rice milk and use more than you would usually use of 1/2 & 1/2 or soy milk. I even carry a small bottle of it with me when I’m going to be having coffee or tea at a cafe or restaurant.

Must have in our house

Best price out there. Our son is allergic to milk products and with the high level of estrogen in soy milk we choose to go with rice milk. He loves it. Took to it with no problem after exclusively having breast milk.

The ONLY one my daughter can drink

My daughter suffers from some food allergies and intolerances. Dairy, tree nuts and sunflower are among them. This is the only rice milk I have found that is not potentially made with sunflower oil. Unfortunately Whole Foods is not carrying it as widely and I almost cried when I found out because I have to give my toddler something. Then I almost cried when I realized that Amazon has it for $1 less per container than WF with free super saving shipping to my door. She goes through 1 every 2 days so this is significant for us. Yay!

Just right

Just right with cereal, very similar to non-fat milk in consistency and taste. Does not work as a creamer in coffee at all, though – too thin.
