PLANTERS began as a vision in the mind of a young Italian Immigrant named Amedeo Obici. Little did he know that the small business he began in 1906 would grow into the world’s grandest nut company. We have built our reputation and a powerful brand by offering superior quality and product innovation. American favorite for over 100 years. PLANTERS has been an American favorite for over 100 years. Whether you love PLANTERS Peanuts for their delicious peanut taste or their satisfying crunch, there’s a variety just for you. All about the Peanut Although its name implies it is a nut, peanuts are not true nuts but, instead, a member of a family of legumes related to peas, lentils, chickpeas and other beans. Peanuts start growing as a flower, but, because of their heavy weight after pollination, they bend toward and eventually go underground where the peanut matures. Although peanuts come in many varieties, there are four main types with specific size, taste and nutrient make-up; they include Runners, Virginia, Spanish and Valencia. Runners have become extremely popular because of their high yield. More than half of these peanuts are used for peanut butter. Virginias have the largest kernels and are typically the peanuts you find roasted in the shell or in snack bags. Spanish-type peanuts have smaller kernels and higher oil content than other types of peanuts and are covered with a reddish-brown skin. They are used mostly in peanut candies, some snack nuts and peanut butter. Valencias are a very sweet “nut” with three or more small kernels to a pod and are covered in a bright-red skin. They are usually roasted or boiled and sold in-the-shell. So many nuts, so little time. In the mood for something simple? And peanuts—which are not actually nuts but, like peas and beans, are legumes—have seven grams of protein per one–ounce serving. Fiber – Peanuts are a good source of dietary fiber, which can help keep you feeling full longer and can aid digestion. Not too many snacks contain fiber! Niacin is a B vitamin that the body uses to convert food into energy. A one–ounce serving of peanuts delivers about 15% of the niacin you need each day. Vitamin E – A one–ounce serving of peanuts delivers a good source of Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps you protect cells from damage. Resveratrol – This plant compound with antioxidant properties is found in peanuts (especially high in peanut skins) as well as grapes. Many scientific studies are looking at its health benefits. “Good” Fats – Experts recommend limiting the intake of foods high in saturated fat and replacing them with foods high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated–“good”—fats. And 80% of the fat in peanuts comprise the “good” fats.

This new product certainly takes advantage of the power of marketing. Basically, it’s common nut mix marketed as health food. The price per can is about $2 more than nut mixes found in supermarkets and certainly much more than a “mix it yourself” solution. Great marketing, convenient, but a bit overpriced.
full of peanuts
I find majority of the mix is of Peanuts, which is cheaper compare to other nuts. 2 stars cause favor is good
Greasy, but . . .
I found these nuts greasy, but GOOD – wish I could get this combination of nuts dry roasted.
Love this product, and the price was great as long as I purchased enough to qualify for free shipping.
too many peanuts
Well over half of the can is peanuts. Not sure how heart healthy that is. Almonds seem to be the second runner up and then the other nuts are thrown in here and there. I think there was 5 pistachios in my entire can. Don’t waste your time… mix and match at the health food store or find a brand with no peanuts.

Lots of peanuts
Usually these are priced the same as Planter’s Deluxe Mix. However, these contain a lot more peanuts, which are cheaper. They contain peanuts, almonds, pistachios, pecans, walnuts and hazelnuts. And I think that’s the order of abundance as well. Looking down into this fresh opened can here, I mainly see a lot of peanuts and almonds. I don’t find them particularly greasy or oily, but they certainly are not dry roasted. The peanuts don’t have skins. They have 50mg of sodium, compared to 110 in most other Planter’s mixes, and they have 600mg of Potasium, compared to the 500mg in the deluxe mix.
Taste good and healthy.
Taste good and healthy. So hard to put the can down. Love it sooooooo much!Never tasted such a great snack and my love for nuts keeps me wanting more. I enjoy them everyday.
Great Taste with a Unique Mix
I’ve seen some of the reviews complain that this particular mix is just a typical one and there is nothing special about it. That is just simply not the case. It’s odd to see too many mixes with pistachios and hazelnuts and they really do add to the flavor of the mix. As for the “Heart Healthy” aspect of it that probably is more of a marketing thing than anything. The basic part is just that nuts are a good source of protein and these have less salt than the regular mix. You won’t miss the salt at all though.
I would buy this particular mix over the regular given a choice every time.
